Bournemouth Symphony
I have joined the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Creative Health team! We run creative music workshops in hospitals, community settings, universities and schools.
I Am the river
Together with Frome Families for the Future, I led a collaborative songwriting project with the Frome community, all about the river Frome. You can listen to the song HERE
We wrote this song over 4 workshops at the Rosetti House where we took inspiration from a silent river walk, imagining how the river would feel and what it might say if it could speak, and thinking back to our own memories of the river. We wove these ideas into lyrics, and made the melodies and chords together in our circle, humming and singing our ideas. The final song includes ideas, melodies and words from everyone who joined in the workshops, from the youngest member (aged 5) to the elderly residents in the care home.
Creative Connections
I have been a leader on the Creative Connections project since its inception in 2009. Creative Connections is an international organization that provides unique opportunities to creatively explore and express stories, ideas and emotions through music. Community is celebrated and given a voice through meaningful connections between people, organizations and a new relationship with art and music. Creative Connections emphasizes the creation and performance of music as something that all people can access, and offers shared experiences through which individuals, diverse communities, and culture can strengthen and expand. We work in schools across Baltimore, building bridges between schools and communities and creating new music together with the students (ages 5-18). We also mentor students from the Peabody Conservatory, helping them to lead the creative music process and discover their own creative voice.
